Sounders look for a first away win in all-comps
This preview comes after Philadelphia Union have ground out a pretty poor run of results through their recent tough set of games in all-compets. Ryan Richter has been in charge since 27 May 2026 and the Union's pressing-and-transition style is starting to take shape under his tenure. However, Union have posted an overall record of one win, four draws and five defeats in their previous ten games. Their most recent trio of results are a real reflection of the chaos that has engulfed the hosts recently: a 4-3 defeat away to Orlando City, a 1-1 draw at home to Columbus Crew and a 6-4 defeat to Inter Miami CF.
Seattle Sounders arrive in slightly better form than the hosts, but their recent results have still been pretty poor with a record of four wins, two draws and four defeats across their previous ten in all-competitions. Sounders have lost three in a row however, with a 1-0 away defeat to LAFC followed by a 0-5 blowout at home to Portland Timbers. They are yet to record a first victory away from home in all-competitions, with one draw and two defeats from their most recent three road games.
Seattle's possession game should trouble the Union press
The high pressing Union should try and make Seattle pay for their game style of building from the back, but the Sounders will also try and frustrate the press with their patient possession game, so this should be a fascinating contest. Philadelphia should be able to win the second ball at times, but the Union could quickly get turned into a mess if they do. Seattle's most likely route to success is to keep the ball, calm the game down and try and pick Union off in transition, but that's easier said than done against the home side.
Richter's side have kept things relatively tight at Subaru Park, USA in all-competitions, as they have drawn three straight games at this venue, conceding just 0.33 goals per game and scoring the same. Our Philadelphia Union vs Seattle Sounders prediction is that Union are a touch too short in the odds, as they are 2.22 favorites ahead of the Sounders at 2.9 and the draw at 3.65. Philadelphia are the most likely to edge this game, but they've drawn more than they should have done of late and Seattle's away form could keep this game close.
Philadelphia's Milan Iloski is a goal threat
Both teams to score at 1.55 and over 2.5 goals at 1.65 is the way to go for Saturday's MLS 2026 fixture at Subaru Park, rather than taking either side to win. Philadelphia's home form and Seattle's road struggles suggest that the most likely result is a narrow home edge or a closely fought draw. This prediction leans toward another tight contest, while these betting tips point to goals being the best angle. Milan Iloski is Union's greatest danger man with seven goals in 15 MLS 2026 games and five goals in his last five-game spell, so back Iloski to cause Seattle problems on Saturday.
