- FC Dallas have failed to win any of their six home MLS games in 2025, drawing twice and losing four times.
- San Jose Earthquakes have a slightly better away record than Dallas’ home record, winning three, drawing two and losing four of their nine away league games in MLS 2025.
- San Jose have not won in their last two away visits to FC Dallas.
Dallas in dire straits at home
FC Dallas has been a barren place for FC Dallas this season with the hosts yet to taste a single victory in six home MLS matches. A 4-2 win away at Sporting Kansas City was followed up by a disappointing 0-0 home draw against Philadelphia last weekend, extending their drought in front of their own fans.
Eric Quill has aimed to instill defensive balance and controlled play since he took over in November 2024, but they are 21st in the USA MLS 2025 with 21 points from 17 games.
Luciano Acosta has scored 5 goals in 16 MLS 2025 appearances and has netted 3 times in his last 5 league games, so the Argentinean is their biggest threat in attack.
San José have more of an attacking edge
San Jose Earthquakes are two points and one match better off than Dallas, occupying 18th place with 23 points from 18 matches. Bruce Arena took over in January 2025 and has already made them a little more direct and positive with a pressing game that can be effective when it all clicks.
Preston Judd has been on fire of late, scoring three of the Quakes' last six goals in the past five games. Cristian Arango is their main danger man with nine goals in 14 MLS 2025 appearances.
Quakes could nick this clash
Both clubs are chasing a playoff berth, but the erratic nature of their respective results suggests there is still plenty of work to do. A home-and-away win could swing momentum one way or the other and there is plenty of scope for the visitors to make a statement with a win.
We will probably see the difference between Dallas’ more measured, structured style and the more free-flowing, high-pressure game San Jose is capable of playing. It could lead to a chess match or a sudden flurry of end-to-end action that results in a game of cat and mouse.
The odds for Dallas to win are 2.42, San Jose at 2.95 and the draw at 3.75, so this is clearly an even matchup and the bookies cannot decide who will win it. We’re siding with a draw here as San Jose have just as much chance of getting a result at a place where they haven’t won in their previous two visits, albeit Dallas are struggling there.
Under 2.5 goals is also a good bet as FC Dallas have scored just 0.67 goals per home game on average and conceded 1.50 in 2025. San Jose have scored 1.11 and conceded 1.33 goals per away league outing.
