Chengdu have a mental edge over Zhejiang
In a match-up that pits brother against brother, Chengdu Rongcheng coach John Aloisi will certainly have the mental edge when he takes on his sibling Ross in the home dugout of Zhejiang Professional FC at Huzhou Olympic Sports Center.
Chengdu have won four and drawn one of the last five head-to-head meetings in the CSL 2026 and, after crushing Zhejiang 4-0 the last time they met in the league just three months ago, the Blue Wave are much more likely to edge this one.
For this preview, they are certainly the superior team on paper, but Zhejiang's record at home and Chengdu's recent wobble mean this is unlikely to be a sure bet for the visitors.
Ross Aloisi has been improving Zhejiang's defence
Chengdu have drawn three and lost two of their last five games and Zhejiang have only won two of their last five while losing two.
Chengdu's most recent results have been a 1-1 home draw with Wuhan Three Towns in the Chinese Super League 2026 and a 1-0 away loss to Yunnan Yukun FC earlier today.
Zhejiang have also drawn 1-1 away to Chongqing Tongliang Long, beaten Dalian Yingbo 3-2 and lost 2-1 to Beijing Guoan away over their previous three.
John Aloisi set Chengdu up to be compact but attack-minded in a 4-2-3-1 system since taking over on 6 January 2026. They play an aggressive pressing game and make the most of the space created by fast, vertical transitions.
Our Zhejiang Professional FC vs Chengdu Rongcheng FC prediction is that this tactical approach could again give Chengdu the edge.
Aloisi's teams are hard to beat
Ross, who took over on 1st January, plays a more patient style with a 4-2-3-1 where the full-backs push forward to overload the wide areas, although he has tightened things up at the back since taking over.
Alexandru Mitrita has been the key creative spark for the home side this season with 11 assists in 16 Chinese Super League 2026 games, including four in the last five, while Felipe has been Chengdu's main goal threat with 12 in 16.
Yudong Wang has 8 in 21 for Zhejiang, but has scored three of their last ten goals, so there is a strong chance that both teams will score in this encounter.
The odds reflect the form of the two teams with Chengdu the slight favourite at 2.15 compared to Zhejiang's 3.05 and the draw at 3.91.
Our betting tips point toward goals, as both teams to score and over 2.5 goals are priced attractively at 1.34 and 1.37. Chengdu should win this, but Ross Aloisi is a tough opponent and Zhejiang will make it difficult for them.
