Shanghai should have too much for Shenzhen
Shenzhen’s recent form has been poor and they have a tough job ahead if they are to beat Shanghai Port FC at home on Monday.
Shanghai Port FC will look to extend their dominance over their hosts in this fixture, in which they have won three consecutive meetings in the Super League 2025, including a 3-1 victory four months ago.
Christian Lattanzio’s side, who he took over in October 2024, have always set up with a defence-first mindset and try to pack the midfield, leaving the strikers to get on the end of the counter attacks.
This has given the side a solid base in which they can build from, but they’ve had to sacrifice their flair to some extent.
In contrast, Kevin Muscat, who took charge in January 2024, has given Shanghai Port FC a much more attacking identity since his appointment.
Their pace, width and technical ability in the midfield is often too much for most sides in the division, but in Leonardo, who has 8 goals in 14 Super League games, they have the best finisher in the league.
Shanghai are a real force on the road
Shenzhen Peng FC’s home form has been mixed in Super League 2025, with three wins, one draw and three losses from seven games. The hosts do average 1.86 goals per game in their home matches, which is more than acceptable, but they are major underdogs at 14.7, while Shanghai Port FC are as low as 1.19.
We believe the odds for this one are stacked in favour of the visitors and there is little sense in backing the away side, despite their solid form. However, with Shanghai Port FC winning four and drawing two of their Super League away matches this season, we like the look of ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ at 1.55.
Shenzhen Peng FC are likely to pack it in and make life difficult for Shanghai Port FC, but the leaders are scoring at will and have enough quality to open them up. The Over 2.5 Goals bet looks a good one here as the hosts will try to frustrate, but their solidity will be severely tested by Shanghai Port FC’s relentless attacking pressure.
